A Letter Writing Guide

Wednesday, February 3, 2010

Dear Everyone,

Here's "A Letter Writing Guide for you.

Spread the news, say "I miss you," or simply explore the world in a letter. This is pen power.

Letter writing brings the many possibilities of communication. It is a form of writing practice that gives fun and finger exercise.

In literature, letter writing is under the genre of nonfiction. It can involve a testimony, a profound prose that involves emotion or confession, or a literary letter, among others.

Now that the internet becomes a primary tool in the global world, the electronic mail (email) facilitates communication that helps personal and community transactions and updates. Letter writing as one with technology makes people closer, and more advanced.

A simple letter includes the following:

1. The Heading shows the address and the date

25 St. Hannibal Street
Messina, Italy
September 8, 2010

Or:

September 8, 2010

Ms. Lorna Mendoza
Director, Vietnam Bank
Viet Nam

Dear Lorna,

2. The Salutation The salutation is your "hello." It can be anything you would like to address someone.

Dear Father,

3. The Body It is what you want to say, why you are writing; the purpose of your letter; Comparing to an article, the body is the paragraph development.

I miss you everyday, and wished you were here now.

Next week, please send in some delicacies for my snacks...

4. The Closing Closing part is the way you end your letter.

Hugs to you,

Love,

God bless,

5. The Signature The signature is your name; When you sign your name it's just like signing a work of art, or a required document. It also marks an authentication of your letter.

6. Postscript (P.S.) an added remark or thought

P. S.
Don't forget to pray for me Daddy. Good night.

A letter can get you jobs, human support, and advertisements. In any way, it's a tool that life can't go without, like counting and reading. In any form it is necessary for communication.

Of course, letters must always show respect for individuals, and honesty of correspondence and expression. Writing letters is a variant of journal writing, and blogging.

As examples, check out on "The Diary of Anne Frank," "St. Paul Epistles from the Bible," and "Letters," by Bienvenido Santos.

Try some free E-books and blogs that contain stories through love letters like, "Falling In Love on the Net," (http://iwrotefiction.blogspot.com) of which I wrote as practice.

On some occasions, a more formal letter is required, yet as long as the message is clear and honest the letter will reach the heart and mind of the reader.

I will wait for your letter.

Thanks,
Rose Flores - Martinez, 2010
